Hello and welcome to My MS Podcast! I’m Alene Brennan, your host and fellow MS sister, and I’m thrilled that you’ve decided to hit play and join me on this life-changing journey. This podcast has been on my heart for a long time, and finally, sharing it with you feels incredibly empowering.

My journey with multiple sclerosis

When I was diagnosed with Relapsing Remitting MS in 2016, I was overwhelmed. For the first time, I found myself without a single friend who truly understood what I was going through. Online, I was bombarded with worst-case scenarios, medical jargon, and endless statistics about MS, none of which spoke to the real me. I didn’t feel like I fit in with the typical support groups, and many online communities felt too doom and gloom.

What I craved was a real conversation about living with Multiple Sclerosis. I wanted someone who could genuinely understand the moment I was handed this diagnosis, and most of all, I wanted to learn how to protect the part of me that MS could never touch—the real me. I refused to let MS define my story or my identity. Instead, I wanted to figure out how to live with MS in a way that allowed me to hold on to my hopes and dreams for the future.

Turning MS into an opportunity for a meaningful life

In many ways, my MS diagnosis forced me to pause and reassess my life. I realized I was burning myself out on things that didn’t truly matter. I was constantly trying to do more, be better, and go faster—a lifestyle that was unsustainable both before and after my diagnosis. Instead of viewing MS as a permanent setback, I saw it as an invitation to break free from the endless treadmill of meaningless to-dos.

I embraced the idea of living a more intentional life:

  • Slowing down to enjoy a quiet Saturday morning making pancakes with my family instead of rushing through errands.
  • Connecting deeply with friends rather than scrolling mindlessly on my phone.
  • Taking the courageous step to launch this podcast and connect with my fellow MS sisters.

If you or someone you love is living with Multiple Sclerosis, I believe we can live beyond our diagnosis. The tagline of my podcast is “Reclaim your body, mind and life from multiple sclerosis”—and that’s exactly what I set out to do.

Embracing nutrition as a path to healing

As a nutrition coach specializing in Multiple Sclerosis, my passion for nutrition began when I struggled with debilitating migraines as a child. I was given a list of foods to avoid, which changed my life and ignited my interest in how food can impact our well-being. I learned that food is a powerful tool that can help us feel better in our bodies.

When I was diagnosed with MS, I once again turned to nutrition, seeking ways to support my body through this new challenge. I noticed a significant lack of education and support for the MS and autoimmune community. Determined to fill that gap, I dedicated my nutrition coaching practice to our community. I’ve completed six extensive trainings in functional and culinary nutrition and earned certifications in the Wahls Protocol and Autoimmune Protocol (AIP). I’ve since worked with thousands of women around the world to create realistic and sustainable nutrition plans.

On this podcast, I share my personal experiences with Multiple Sclerosis, my insights as a nutrition coach, and practical tips that can help support your healing journey. Remember, though, that the information I share is not a substitute for professional medical advice—you should always consult with your doctor for your specific health needs.

If you still want to dream big, pursue your passions, and find peace with your diagnosis, My MS Podcast is for you.

Here, you’ll find the tools, community, and mindset shifts to reclaim your body, mind, and life from MS.

When I was diagnosed with MS in 2016, I was scared and felt alone. But as a Nutrition Coach, I knew there was more to healing than what I was being told. I took action and within six months the lesions I had on my brain shrunk and went inactive. Now, seven years later there has been no new lesions and no new activity. As a nutritionist specializing in multiple sclerosis, I help women take back control of their future.

That’s my story, but I’m not alone. It's your turn to start Thriving with MS. I’m here to show you the way.
